Learn The Top Method How To Speak English Well

How to speak English well as soon as possible is one of your goals. You decided to move to a city in North America and now it is important for you to be able to communicate with others in the city. You may want to study English to improve your social or business advantage. You know that it is important for you to become skilled at the language. You just must find the right way of learning English.

It is very difficult learning any foreign language. Commitment to learning and a lot of time is what it takes when you want to have other people understand what you say. When people are speaking to you or when you watch television, watch the mouth of people talking and try to imitate the movements. There is a rhythm to speech you should learn. Repeat and try to imitate the intonation.

During the learning process speaking slowly helps in learning the right rhythm of the language. Whatever language you speak does not have the same rhythm as another language. A dictionary show the correct pronunciation of words, so having a dictionary is essential. When you practice you find the pronunciation in the dictionary.

Listing the words you seem to have trouble with is a great idea. Then when you can speak with a native speaker they can check the list and help you to practice these specific words. This will be an advantage to your progress in learning the language well.

Buying books on tape is a great way to learn. The best way to do this is to listen to the tape and then record your own voice repeating what you have just heard. This is another way of practicing. When you compare the way you speak and the way the person is reading on tape you may be able to pick up some words that you are not saying correctly.

Another excellent way to practice is to read English text out loud. By doing this you use the muscles that one uses when speaking English. It allows you to develop those muscles. Pronouncing all the words carefully and every part of each word, your progress will accelerate. In recording this practice daily you easily isolate words that are difficult for you.

Immediate results are not possible as learning a second language and speaking takes time and effort. If you can find English speaking friends to converse with you will tend to progress much quicker. You must have the patience to persevere and practice.

If you want to learn more about how to speak english well, stop by my site where you can find out all about  Effortless English Course and how it can help you speak English fluently.

Chinese Prostitutes Learn English

Why are prostitutes in China learning English?

The answer is not surprising for it concerns Charles Darwin’s old theory about survival of the fittest.  In this case, survival is marked by the ability to make a living in a city where decent paying jobs for uneducated people are few and far between. For many who aspire to move upward in China, selling their bodies at night in local hotels is a way to pay for exorbitant school tuition fees.

Learning English broadens the clientele base and allows prostitutes to better communicate with foreign clients. The demand for sexual services from foreign clients is a huge factor in the success of the “industry”. Many students in Chinese English classes hesitate to reveal details as to why they are learning a new language.  “I work in sales” is one classic answer or “I do business for myself” is another ambiguous reply.

Learning English will definitely improve business prospects. A sad alternative indeed for an overpopulated and corrupt culture where only the monied and the connected lead fruitful lives. The others are well, the others, and no one seems to care. It seems almost accidental if a life of prostitution leads to a fulfilling life.

In Xi’an, as in many other major cities, the local economy thrives on prostitutes, sex shops, and adult films. Due to the enormous foreign demand fueling the illicit market of sex, many brothels in China are located in centers known to attract many tourists.

Prostitution has had to integrate the English language into their business just as other sectors of the Chinese economy. Logistically speaking, s prostitute is much more likely to have success convincing a foreigner in English that he should spend an hour with her than in Chinese.

Hence, we have an “English boom” movement that is not really positive in its ramifications. It can be hoped that for some, learning English will provide an avenue for social mobility, a move into other legitimate service industries such as tourism or sales.

How To Improve Spoken English Is Not That Complicated

As English becomes the international language of the new global economy, mastering the dialect is just as important is learning vocabulary and sentence structure. There are a few basic techniques that have demonstrated effective and productive methods which will enable students to quickly and confidently learn how to improve spoken English.

In order to make learning English much easier, the first thing to do is to learn the rules regarding English grammar. Not only will this help to properly order sentences and understand the meaning of certain things, but it will also enable the student to learn the language faster and without as much confusion. Grammar lessons are pretty short in duration, and they will lay a great foundation for achieving future success.

Once the fundamentals have been mastered, the next thing to do is talk, talk and talk some more. The best way to absorb the English language is to keep speaking and listening in conversation in English as much as possible. This is a hard step for many people in the beginning, because it is difficult to take the first steps in uncomfortable situations. But, soon after the ice has been broken, it gets easier and before you know it, you are doing it with little conscious effort on your part.

One helpful trick is to get together with classmates, friends, or other acquaintances who are more advanced in their English skills. Meet in social situations, such as spending time in a cafe, or perhaps over dinner. This is a great way to speak and listen in an environment which is relaxed and comfortable. Don't worry about making mistakes, and just enjoy the conversation. Over time, most students develop fluency naturally through talking during these simple social situations.

Whenever it is possible, turn on the radio and listen to some English music. After a few times, the lyrics will make more sense, and it will become easier to understand English in normal conversation as well. As time progresses, it will become surprisingly apparent that absorbing the language in the background will help a lot when communicating in real world situations.

After grammar is learned, and it becomes more comfortable to talk in English, there will come a time when learning proper pronunciation is just as important as everything else. This also takes time, and a lot of patience and practice, but to truly master English, learning proper pronunciation is very, very important.

Remember that anyone can learn how to improve spoken English, it just takes dedication, patience, and a desire to really make a successful transition from just knowing a few words. If you are interested in learning how to improve spoken English, then it will take a lot of effort on your part as well as a lot of talking and listening. The good news is that sooner or later you will be speaking better English than many native speakers.

What To Do To Learn English Fast

Everyone who learns foreign language wish to achieve fluency in the shortest possible time. However, what factors are responsible for success in language learning? How can we boost our progress? Research shows that most English students have learning problems because of their psychology, not because of methods they use or teachers they learn from.

Those things are important, but Tony Robbins talks about the fact that psychology is 80% of success. Psychology is 80% of success, so 20% are the methods you use to study, the schools you go to, the teachers you have, the books you use. Those are important, but the other 80% is psychology, your motivation, your emotions, how you manage your time. All of these things are in fact much, much more important.

Enthusiastic, energetic and optimistic students always learn much faster and succeed. Students with the negative mentality have low motivation. They tend to be pessimistic and feel that they were not good at English. They think that English is very difficult. Therefore, they struggle, they quit, and finally they fail.

So very important is to know how can you manage your emotions. How can you develop that strong, powerful, enthusiastic attitude towards English, how can you maintain it so that you don’t get bored? So that in fact you get stronger and stronger with English and your psychology gets stronger and you succeed, you reach your goals. You speak fluently, effortlessly. Among English teachers, language teachers, this topic is called Non-Linguistic Factors.

One of the best experts in language learning Dr. Stephen Krashen from Los Angeles during his studies found that non-linguistic factors are equally or even more important than linguistic factors. According to the research factors like emotions, feeling about English and learner’s peer group decide whether the student succeed or fail.

To manage emotions and learn the language effectively we need to develop a ritual that we can follow every day. This ritual will help you feel better, improve your motivation and learn English faster. Every day when you wake up in the morning you must get into a peak emotional state. In this state you will feel great and learn fast.
How to get into peak emotional state? It’s quite simple. You can turn on your favorite music. Then move your body with the music, smile and shout. When you do this for about 5 minutes you will feel energized. Now is time to start learning English.

Remember, when you listen to your English lesson you must keep mving your body. In this way, you will maintain high energy. This approach is much different from methods used in most traditional schools where you must sit still all the time.

To have chances for success in English learning you must choose right learning method. The best are methods that let you learn while moving. For example, find audio lessons and listen to them while walking. In this case, you have a chance to improve your body and mind at the same time. This combination let you learn English really fast.

How to improve your English pronunciation

It is time to improve your pronunciation.  Do you need perfect American or British pronunciation?  No.
But you must have a clear accent.  You want native speakers to understand you easily.    Therefore, pronunciation training is important.

**A Story About Pronunciation
Jerry is from Taiwan.  He moved to Canada when he was 20.  He studied English many years in Taiwan. When he came to Canada, he had a big problem. No one understood him.  When he said something in English, people looked confused.  They said, "Huh?"...  "Excuse me".
Jerry became very upset.  He went to an English school, but his English did not improve.
Finally, he decided to study at home, using deep learning.  He studied just one conversation-- for 6 months.  And during that time he focused on one thing-- Intonation .
That's right, he listened to the same conversation (on MP3)
     for 6 months!
He didn't just listen.  He also paused after every sentence and
copied the speakers' intonation .   Every day he tried to
improve his intonation .  Everyday, he listened carefully.

Jerry focused mostly on intonation -- the "music" of English .  Intonation is the pitch,  rhythm, and volume of English.

**Today, Jerry Sounds Like a Native Speaker
Today, Jerry sounds exactly like a North American (Canadian or American).  His pronunciation is perfect.   When people meet him, they think he is American.

**Learn Intonation (Jerry's Secret)
Jerry used two secrets - deep learning and intonation . He did not try to learn many lessons every week.  He used only one conversation and he practiced its pronunciation many many times.  He learned that conversation very deeply.

And he learned the "music" of English.  He learned when to raise his tone, and when to drop.  He learned when to stretch words, and when to say them quickly.
Jerry did not worry about individual sounds like "r", "l",  or "th".  And now, Jerry sounds like a native speaker. When you use his method you can sound like a native speaker too.

Use Flashcards to Speed up Your English Learning

Let’s look at the process of learning a new language.
Indeed, you need to understand and remember many new words. But there is something even more fundamental you must do. You must be able to retain the new data. Now, retaining data is a skill. And it can be developed. When you practice and practice and practice it – you get better and better in doing it.
Flashcards are a great method to practice retaining data, and they have a bonus. When used correctly – they can be quite fun.

So what are flashcards and how can you use them?
Flashcards are cards which are flashed, or in other words, shown quickly, to the student. He then needs to recall and say the word which correctly describes the flashcard. The actual card can show a word, a picture or an illustration.

For example, a teacher could have a set of cards about weather. It would contain different cards, such as a card with a picture of rain, a card with a picture of snow, and so forth. The teacher would divide the class into several groups and begin a game. The purpose would be to win as much points as possible. During this activity, the teacher flashes (shows briefly) a card to the class, one after the other. The first team to say the right English word for that card gets a point. The team with the most points – wins.

Another example would be of a student using flashcards by himself. He could write a word in English on one side of the card, and put that word’s meaning on the other side of the card. He could use these cards daily to practice his vocabulary. He could do it at home, on the way to work or school (if he’s using public transportation), and so forth. He might not be competing with other students for points, but he could make a game out of it anyway, by trying to get more “points” than he got the day before.

As you can see, this method of learning turns the process into a game and adds some fun to the deal.
There is basically no limit to what you can do with flashcards. You can make all sorts of games, quizzes, competitions and other vocabulary activities. You can practice with them online, play cards and group games offline, repeat your exposure to the words – the list is endless!

There are some important things to remember, though. If you keep those in mind, you can maximize your vocabulary building process.

1) Don’t aim too high at first.
Now, let me clarify this one. There is nothing wrong with aiming high. On the contrary! Aim as high as your eyes can see! But it is wise not to try dealing with a lion, before you can handle cats… In other words, take a gradual approach for advancing. This will probably get you there faster than trying to get everything at once.
So don’t start practicing SAT vocabulary flashcards, if your vocabulary level is basic. Go step by step, improving further and further. You’ll get there in the end.
Find the right level for you.

2) Another important point to keep in mind is that even though flashcards can be a fun and easy memorizing exercise, they cannot and will not replace real usage of the language.
If you really want to learn a language, you must use it.
This works very much the same way as with any other subject you learn. If you really want to learn how to drive a car – you must practice actually driving a car. And if you really want to learn English – you must practice actually using English. This includes reading, writing, listening and speaking.
Flashcards can help in the process, but they cannot replace the real thing.

What makes a good set of flashcards?
- They should be comprehensive.
- They should be right for your level.
- They should be fun to use. Not a must, but a huge incentive…
So find some good sets of flashcards and use them (together with other means) to improve your vocabulary. The benefit will be all yours.

Want to become a polyglot? Learn English!

You've been learning English for years with only marginal improvement and you are convinced that this article doesn't apply to you? Well, it does. You should't take it literally - it doesn't mean that you mysteriously pick up a handful of foreign languages in sole process of learning English. However, it is true for probably all languages to influence mutually with regard to vocabulary. English is no exception.
The time span of about 2000 years and the little space the author has at her disposal enforces unwanted simplification. Nevertheless, it is a good introduction to the fascinating world of the history of the English language.
English belongs to the Indo-European family of languages, sharing its member status with French, Latin, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Persian, to name just a few. English began to develop in c. A.D. 450 when Anglo-Saxon tribes coming from Germany invaded the Isles. Before their invasion the language spoken in England was a form of Celtic. Words of Celtic origin are traceable in modern English, they survived mainly as place-names and rivers: Kent, Thames, Avon, Dover, Wye.
The language of the Anglo-Saxons is known as Old-English. Even though it is 'English', one is unable to understand it unless properly trained. Old-English was fully inflected with five grammatical cases, it possessed dual plural forms for referring to groups of two objects, in addition to the usual singular and plural forms. It also assigned gender to all nouns, even to inanimate objects: for example, se-o sunne (the Sun) was female, while se mo-na (the Moon) was male. Do you see now why poets refer sometimes to the Sun as 'she' and to the Moon as 'he'?
The ninth and tenth centuries are the time of the Viking invasions, also linguistically speaking. The nature of the inherited words varies from everyday expressions to administrative language which is linked with the Danish rule in England. What is interesting about Old English and the language of the Scandinavian invaders is that they were alike at that time. Nevertheless, linguists established that all the words beginning in sk- ( sky, skirt, etc.), place-names ending in -by (Grimsby, Derby, etc.) and even some legal terms (law, outlaw) are of Danish origin.
After the Battle of Hastings (1066) English was largely dominated by Norman French. Since the French ruled England they automatically introduced a mass of French words into the contemporary English language. The domains influenced by that continental language include ecclesiastical terms (religion, sermon, prayer, abbey) as well as legal (judge, bill, convict, imprison), food (dinner, supper, taste, salmon) and art (art, painting, beauty, music) ones.
Last but not least is the influence of Latin which had been present since the first invasion of the Romans. Latin was used by the educated individuals, e.g. monks, people at court. Three visible periods can be distinguished: the first occurred before the invasion of the Anglo-Saxon tribes, the second began when the they were converted to Christianity, and the third transfer of Latin-based words occurred after the Norman conquest in 1066 as some of the French words were derived from classical Latin.
Now that you have read the article you can understand how complicated and rich the history of English is. Words of various origins coexist in one language making learning English an rewarding experience. So, when the next time you are asked what languages you speak you can quote the above list, just to see an envious look in your friend's eyes.

How to Improve Spoken English

Millions of students need to improve their spoken English and only a small percentage of them will succeed. It isn't a matter of money or intelligence. It is simply a matter of working consistently and having a proper study method. It amazes me how few people study correctly.

I've had hundreds of students ask me how they can improve their spoken English. They've been told that speaking to foreigners is the only way. Obviously this helps, but it's a poor attitude to think that the only way to really improve your speaking is to have a native partner all the time. It simply isn't necessary. I'm going to give you some useful secrets that I'm sure will help you.

1. Improve your listening.
Vocabulary is nothing if you can't understand it when it's spoken. English that us used daily by native speakers is much simpler and much different that anything you can read. Listen to what they say to each other and make note of it. The only way to get better at listening is to practice it. Podcasts are a great way to do it but you need to find one for your level. Young kids can speak fluently in any language but they can't read or write. They learn all of this from listening.

It doesn't matter your age, you can make huge improvements if you spend more time listening to native speech you can understand. After a certain point, the English will start to flow naturally from your mouth. Don't quit though. This takes several hours of dedicated listening before you will notice anything. If you listen for 50 hours, you will be shocked at how much you've improved.

2. Write down your thoughts
This is not essay writing like you'd do in school. I'm talking about keeping a diary about your daily life. Use descriptive words and write in a way that you would speak. Try to write stories. Try to write exactly what you would say to your friends. Write a story about your dream vacation. Write a story about what you did during your favorite summer. Write about the first time you fell in love. Write about what you want to do with your life in the future.

The answers to all of those questions will be in the form of how you would actually speak. They are much different than essays or what you'd read in the newspaper. The more you write, the more you'll notice what you need to work on. There will be some stories you can tell more easily than others. If you can't write your ideas, you won't be able to say them. If you can write down what you want to say clearly, your spoken English will follow.

It's the combination between this style of writing and listening that will give you major progress with your speaking. You need to do both or you will get no results. If you want to spend some time reading too, that's fine, just remember, reading should only be to learn new words and don't make it take up the majority of your studying. It's fun and easy to read, but spend more time listening and writing. You'll be amazed at how clearly you'll be able to express yourself with even a small vocabulary. Native speakers don't use a very large vocabulary when they are speaking anyway.

Take advantage of technology like Ipads, Iphones, Ipods, Podcasts, PDF's, Ebooks, and other useful English learning stuff. You should be able to listen and write anywhere with no more excuses. Check out this English course. It will really help you improve spoken English.

Most Frequent English Learning Obstacles

Out of all of the languages there are in the world, English is one of the most difficult to learn. There are many reasons why English learners have such a difficult time learning the language.
The following lists the most frequent obstacles when you are learning English:

1. Motivational Obstacles: There may be external reasons why someone may not want to learn or enjoy learning the English language. This can include: school conditions, job reasons, other activities taking up too much time, bored with the method of instruction, and a lack of an adequate support system. As well, many learners have low self esteem. They develop such self defeating thoughts as I can’t learn, I am stupid, I am wasting my time, and I am too old to learn.

2. Organization Obstacles: Teaching methods and learning materials are not adequate. A learner may also not know what they should study to learn English.

3. Unreasonable Expectations: Some learners go into an English learning program expecting to pick up the language quickly. They become frustrated and begin to lose interest.

4. Method of Learning: Many students do not take advantage of new and innovative methods of learning. Instead of reading texts and doing writing exercises, learners now have a wealth of learning resources on the internet as well as electronic learning devices that allow them to learn anywhere and anytime. There are also chat rooms that allow English learners to meet and chat with other online English learners. One can also enlist the services of an online English language teacher.

5. Pronunciation: Some learners find the English language difficult because the pronunciation can vary depending on how it is being used. For instance, some letters are silent and other letters are pronounced several different ways. Consonant and vowel sounds can also vary such as the words ‘the’ and ‘thought.’ The differences in pronunciation can be frustrating to learn.

6. Grammar: Nouns, adjectives, and adverbs can be very confusing to an English learner because they are different than most other languages. There is no specific order to grammar in the English language. Understanding the various sentence structures and when to use them can take some time to learn.

7. Verb Tense: The English language has a broad connotation of verb tense which makes it difficult to learn. For instance, verb tenses such as ring, rang, and rung, can be complex to the new English learner.

8. English Slang: The English language contains a lot of slang which becomes mixed with regular English phrases. This requires the English learner to understand all of the jargon which can be complicated. An example of English slang is the phrase: ‘brain wash.’

Because the English language is one of the most widely spoken languages, learning the Language has many benefits for one personally, socially, and in the work place. It is important to seek out the new, creative, and fun methods of learning English. The result will be immense satisfaction once you have conquered the language.
